AI: Truly Human-Centered

Yesterday, at our AI awareness session for the leadership of Woningborg, one of the participants pulled me aside. Her concern? That AI might end up dividing our society even more than it already is.

I share her worry. That’s why I structure every session not around tech, but around humanness in relation to AI.

In our rush to adopt AI, we sometimes forget to ask the most important question: Does AI actually make life better for people, especially our youth?

Because what’s at stake isn’t just innovation or productivity, but dignity, belonging, creativity, and connection.

A new study in Educational Technology Research and Development (July 2025) gave me a hopeful pause:
‼️ AI-supported emotional and social learning programs in schools led to clear improvements in emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
‼️ Even more powerful: These gains were even more significant for marginalized students.

AI helped close emotional gaps. That’s huge!

At a time when so many young people face anxiety, loneliness, and disconnection, we must use technology to heal, not divide. And that starts with a simple shift in focus: from tools to people.

Before we pick any tool, let’s ask:
🟠 What do our kids need to feel seen, safe, and supported?
🟠 How do we use AI to build a world where every child feels they matter?

Let’s design AI for human flourishing
And it starts with CARE, not with CODE.
